Can You Share a Specific Project or Research Opportunity That Helped You Grow?

A project that I am greatly fond of within the microbiology department is the Peer Mentoring in Microbiology program, which pairs incoming transfer students with senior mentors to help navigate their first semester at Rutgers. This program has played a monumental role in my transition to Rutgers and growth in the Microbiology field.
Through Mentoring Microbiology, I was able to join a community of Microbiology majors like myself and faculty/advisors with whom I met regularly for help with class scheduling, academic assistance, access to research opportunities, and a listening ear. This program, as an international student, provided me with a smooth transition into life at Rutgers and an amazingly supportive environment.
How Has the Faculty Supported Your Academic and Career Goals?
The Microbiology department is one that I could attest has truly put emphasis on tailoring my undergraduate experience to fit my interests and provide me with the foundations for a successful career. They have always supported my love for research, providing me with the resources that have led me to my current lab, and they ensure that I remain on track with completing degree requirements. They have also been a huge support in helping me plan for my future by introducing me to graduate programs and job opportunities.
