How Has the Faculty Supported Your Academic and Career Goals?

As a first-generation college student, I faced challenges, but from day one, the microbiology faculty provided guidance and encouragement, starting with my advisor.
Studying abroad was a goal I wanted to achieve, and with her help, I found a program in Thailand that fulfilled my experience-based learning credit. The experience was unforgettable, allowing me to immerse myself in global microbiological practices.
I also received invaluable support from my professors in refining my resume, ensuring I presented my skills effectively, and navigating my Master’s program applications, giving me the confidence to take the next step in my education.
Beyond academics, the faculty actively connected students with career-building opportunities. One professor shared an open position at a microbiology laboratory in New Brunswick, which I applied for and secured during my senior year. That opportunity led to full-time employment, and by the end of March, I will celebrate my first year at the lab. This is an achievement made possible by the faculty’s dedication to student success. The mentorship and support I received not only strengthened my academic foundation but also prepared me for a successful career in microbiology by giving me the confidence to continue advancing in the field.
