Henry Rutgers Professor of Microbiomes and Health

Rutgers University - New Brunswick seeks an accomplished scientist to serve as the Henry Rutgers Professor of Microbiomes and Health. The successful candidate will conduct innovative research into how microbiomes function and how they impact human, animal, plant and/or environmental health. A fundamental understanding of how microorganisms assemble to form biomes and how their combined activities affect human and environmental health is pivotal to meeting many of the challenges that face humanity and Earth - from human health, to agriculture, to the overall health of the biosphere.

Candidates should be internationally recognized for their research, have a demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and team building, and possess a commensurate record of publications, grants, teaching and service. The appointment is anticipated at the level of Full Professor, but exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor level will be considered. The successful candidate will be appointed in one or more disciplinary departments with membership in appropriate research institutes, such as the newly established New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health (http://ifnh.rutgers.edu) or the Rutgers Institute of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (https://eoas.rutgers.edu). These institutes build on Rutgers' extensive and pioneering work in the fields of agriculture, Earth science, food science, nutritional science, and human health, creating a stage for transformational initiatives in microbiology research pertaining to many of Earth's biomes.
